Welcome to the official website for the UK Inter-University Pole Fitness Competition 2012, which will take place on Saturday 17th March 2012 in Bristol.

The competition was started by Cardiff University's Pole Society in 2011, and saw pole societies from Bristol/UWE, Derby, Bath and Cardiff Universities compete for gold, silver, and bronze medals in Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, and Instructor categories. These scores, in addition to a group routine by each University, contributed to the overall title of "Best Overall University".

Bristol University/ UWE Pole Society won in 2011, and will therefore be hosting this event 2012, with the aim of including every UK University pole society.

The aim of the competition is to promote pole dancing for fitness and performance within Universities and the wider environment. The event is a platform for pole dancers to get into the competition environment, and aims to be a friendly nurturing day.

Below is a video showcasing last year's event, hosted by Cardiff Pole Dance Society.

We hope to see you at the next event in March 2012, whether it is as a performer or spectator!

All proceeds from the event will go to a UK based charity. This year, we will be raising money for "Bristol Rape Crisis", a specialist support service for women and girls in Bristol and the surrounding areas, who have experienced any form of sexual violence, at any point in their lives.

Rape Crisis is a feminist organisation which exists to promote the needs of women and girls who have experienced sexual violence. Rape Crisis wants all women and girls to be free from the fear and experience of sexual violence.

Sexual violence includes: rape, sexual assault, sexual abuse, incest, sexual domestic violence, trafficking and sexual exploitation, female genital mutilation, ritual abuse, forced marriage, crimes in the name of honour, sexual intimidation, coercion or harassment, whether physical or verbal.
